Hornets capture 3rd League Title

The Homerun Hornets claimed their 3rd league crown in 4 years following a 12-8 victory over the Willow Lakers in the MKSL League Final on September 3rd. The Lakers had jumped out into an early lead whilst Hornets struggled to muster any offense in the early innings. But, as they've done so many times before, two big innings would be all they needed and the Lakers were retired in order in the final inning as their challenge fizzled out.

The Hornets' victory was reminiscent of their previous 2 titles, coming into the final as the lower seed before snatching victory in underdog fashion. A third place finish in the regular season saw them take on the Rhinos in the playoff game. Hornets romped to a 33-21 victory in an offense heavy game to setup the clash with the Lakers. The Lakers route to the final had been somewhat simpler as they claimed 1st place in the Regular Season standings with a 5-1 record. Towcester Tigers had been the only team to have inflicted defeat on them, with a narrow 7-6 win. Lakers had won the regular season game against Hornets by a score of 20-8 and hoped to build on their experience from the 2018 League Final where they narrowly lost 12-8 to Odd Sox. Whilst Lakers will be disappointed to have lost in the final two years running, they will be very proud of their 2019 season which saw them capture their best ever finish in the Regular Season standings.
