Party time - MK Softball League Awards Night 2017 announced!

It’s hard to believe that another season is coming to a close and we are starting to turn our thoughts towards another end-of- season awards night.

A year ago the Roundabout Rhinos were just a twinkle in Leah’s eye as we just had the four teams. One year on we have added the Rhinos, Buzzards and Praetorians to our league – not to mention a host of new players. There have been some great matches, fantastic tournaments, injury comebacks, babies born and the odd fat lip to reflect upon.

At the 2016 event, Chris Flynn won rookie of the year, while Paul Severn picked up his first sporting award since 1991 becoming Most Improved Player. Craig Holmes and Trevor Morley shared the male MVP, while Lee Grafton took the male homerun title, with many of his hits still in orbit as I write. Laura Thompson & Laura Simpson scooped the female MVP and homerun titles respectively while Sam Gibson gave the most emotional awards speech since Gwyneth Paltrow at the 1999 Oscars, winning Club Member of the Year.

This year promises to be even more competitive. Please send us your nominations for this year’s awards via our online form: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/W79KMWX

The event at Emerson Rugby Club on Saturday the 7th of October. The price is £20 and includes a two course dinner & entertainment so please do support the league and join us in celebrating another fantastic season of softball!

You can purchase tickets from Robyn, Leah or Cathy so bring cash along to one of our sessions or alternatively let us know if you would prefer to make a bank transfer. We are also happy to take payment in instalments just let us know asap if you would like to do this so we can arrange a payment plan.

So, will any of the MVPs retain their titles? Will the Hornets be celebrating another title? Will Hedley still fit into his waistcoat a year on? Be there to find out!
