BECAUSE THERE IS NO OFF SEASON FOR SOFTBALL LOVERS...
We are pleased to announce the much-anticipated return of our indoor league. This will be our sixth year hosting an indoor league to provide a winter softball fix for our members and we can’t wait to get going. There are a lot of similarities to previous years, including holding it at our wonderful venue the Radcliffe School (MK12 5BT), however as we hope to have lots of new players join us indoors for the first time here is a quick summary of what to expect as well as confirmed dates and details…
When does it start?
Indoor sessions will begin on Tuesday the 11th of October and the first two weeks will be coaching and friendly games only to allow those who haven’t played before the chance to learn a bit about the weird and wonderful indoor rules! The league will then commence on the 25th of October and run until the end of March.
What is the format?
Sessions run 6.30-8pm every Tuesday (apart from during our Christmas hols; the 27th of December, 3th Jan and 10th Jan). For the first two weeks this session will be dedicated to coaching but from the 26th of October, when our league begins, this will then move to an hour of coaching 6.30-7.30pm followed by a league game 7.30-8pm. There is therefore a chance for players to train every single week regardless of whether they are taking part in the league or not.
How are teams formed?
You only need eight players per team for indoor, and as not all members from our outdoor teams take part, we will once again be doing a new draft. This gives players a chance to get to know and play with other people before returning to the traditional league teams in the summer. The teams will be announced along with the schedule on Tuesday the 18th of October. As is tradition this will be done at the pub after our session so please get it in those diaries and join us!
How many teams will there be?
We won’t know for certain until the sign-up deadline has passed but based on current membership figures we are planning for a six-team league. This will be played as a round robin, followed by placing games, so all teams will get six games across the season.
What will it cost?
We are pleased to confirm there will be no increase to fees. The league fee for the winter season will remain £45. This covers all six of your games as well as the training session on your game nights. Any additional training sessions attended will cost £4 per night. Alternatively, you can opt for our Diamond membership which covers all coaching sessions and games until the end of March for £90.
We appreciate that the cost-of-living increase is having a big impact on a lot of people and we never want finances to be a barrier to participation. We would therefore like to remind players that we are happy to arrange payment plans for any of our membership options so please get in touch with our treasurer James or any committee members to find out more, or alternatively you can drop an email to the club inbox.
What are the costs for those not playing in the league?
If you choose not to join the league you can still attend training at £4 per night. There is no additional membership fee for our 2021 summer members, however for those who are new to the club or did not join this year there is a £15 membership fee for the winter season.
For new players wanting to give it a try we offer a two week free trial!
How do I sign up?
Please complete our Indoor League Registration Form.
The deadline for sign-ups is the 15th of October. It is important we stick to this deadline to be able to do our draft and announce the schedule as planned.
Payment will then be due by your first league game.
As always if you have any questions please do give any of our committee a shout and we look forward to seeing lots of you at our final few outdoor training sessions, Codebreakers, or at our Awards night!
